Rules Subject To Change

GAME RULES
FOR COACHES & PLAYERS

Prior to the Game: A coin toss will determine possession at the start of each game including overtime.

Starting Play: The ball must be checked as a bounce pass at the top of the 3 point line. 1st Violation: Warning from the referee & 2nd Violation will result in a change of possession

Length of Games: Two 20 minute halves (running clock) with a 2 minute halftime. Clock stops the last two minutes of the game except if the lead is 10 points or greater.

Overtime: Teams will play a sudden-death overtime with the team scoring first wins. All fouls carry over from the game. If teams are in the bonus then teams will remain in the bonus. A coin toss will determine possession at the start of overtime.

Checked Ball: The ball MUST be checked at the top of the 3 point line after each dead ball, out of bounds & time-out before it is put into play. Once the ball has been checked, play can start immediately without the ball being passed to a teammate. Ball does NOT have to be checked if it is a missed shot or a steal.

Defensive players are allowed to pressure the person checking the ball on the first entry pass. Defense is allowed to deny the pass to a player on the first entry pass if the player is above the three point line.

Change of Possession: The ball will change possession after all made baskets, no “make it, take it.”

Taking It Back: The ball will be taken back on every change of possession, which means a score, steal or air ball. “Taking back” means BOTH feet must be behind the three point line. Failure to take it back is a violation. After one warning from the referee, a failure to take it back will result in loss of possession.

Jump Balls: All jump balls go to the team on defense.

Stalling: Stalling is NOT allowed. If stalling occurs, the referee will institute a 5 second shot clock at any time. Failure to attempt a shot in 5 seconds after being advised by the referee will result in loss of possession.

Time Outs: Each team is allowed TWO total timeouts per game. Timeouts are 60 seconds and can carry over.

3 Seconds in the Lane: Offensive players may NOT remain in the lane for more than three seconds or the ball will be turned over to the opposing team.

Scoring: Baskets made are scored as 1 point and baskets made behind the 3 point line are scored as 2 points.

If a basket is made and a foul occurs the basket will be counted and scored as 2 points and a foul will be recorded. If the basket is missed the player shoots ONE free throw.

If a player is fouled on a 3 point basket it will be counted as 3 points and a foul will be recorded. If the basket is missed the player shoots TWO free throws.

Free Throws: All players remain behind the 3 point line while free throws are attempted. After free throws are attempted the opposing team checks the ball.

Fouls: The timekeeper records all fouls. The first 5 fouls, the ball is checked at the 3 point line. Beginning with the 6th foul, the player fouled will be awarded ONE free throw. On the 10th foul, TWO free throws will be awarded.

In Game Substitution: Coaches are allowed to sub freely whenever there is a dead ball. Coaches sub by letting the ref know there is a sub.

Coaches: Coaches and players are not allowed to stand, sit, coach or leave water bottles and bags underneath the basket. Each coach can choose a side or area for the “bench.”

Team Coaches: Coaches are mandatory for grades 3rd - 8th but optional for 9th - 12th.

In Game Substitution: Coaches are allowed to sub freely whenever there is a dead ball. Coaches sub by letting the ref know there is a sub.

LEAGUE RULES
FOR COACHES, PLAYERS, PARENTS/SPECTATORS

Team Registration: If registering as a team there must be a minimum of 4 players. Teams may register as many players as they would like, however ONLY 4 players are allowed to play each week. If you have more than 4 players, teams can rotate players on their own to see who will play each week. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Free Agent Registration: Players can register individually as a free agent to be placed on a team. The league does its best to place free agents. The league is not responsible for the skill level of free agents who are placed on a team or how the team will perform. Free agent teams that are put together must have one or more of the families to provide a coach and a point of contact for team communication for the team. If a free agent is not placed on a team the registration fee will be refunded minus an administrative fee of $20.

Registration Fee - Non Refundable: The 3v3 Basketball league player registration fee is non-refundable for any circumstance. There is insurance that is available for purchase during check out to protect your registration if you choose.

League Issued T-Shirts: All players MUST wear their league issued game shirt to participate in the game. Any player not wearing their league issued shirt for a game will result in a technical. The opposing team will shoot two free throws and receive the ball to start the game. In addition, the opposing team will receive the ball to start the 2nd half.  If a player loses a their league issued shirt, they must purchase another one for $40.

If a team is down one or two players, the team is allowed to have a sub “fill in” for that game only and must inform the Director of the league. The fee for a fill in sub is $20 payable upon arrival. Players will not be allowed to participate in the game until fee is paid via cash, Venmo or Cashapp. If teams try to sneak a sub without notifying the Director of the league the fee will be $50 and must be paid prior to the next game. Teams can play with three players and do not have to get a sub. It is up to the discretion of the team if they would like to get a sub or not. **Note - This rule was implemented to control the adding subs and making it fair for all teams.

Game Day Conflicts/Forfeits: Teams must inform the Director of the league in advance if the team is unable to compete on their designated game date and/or time. If a team DOES NOT notify the Director of the league, teams will be fined $50 and must be paid prior to the next game.
